臺媒稱，現代人注重食品衛生安全，因此許多食物包裝都會明確標示食物的保質期。一旦過了保質期，一般人通常就會將這些食物當作“壞掉了”而選擇丟至垃圾桶。不過，英國有人卻開了間咖啡店，專賣這些“垃圾食物”，不僅在世界各地帶起風潮，創立至今也拯救了大約200噸的“過有效期限但沒壞掉”的食物。</p>
<p>
據臺灣東森新聞雲網站10月8日報道，名爲“垃圾咖啡館(junk food cafe)”的店內食物，大多是以超市、餐廳等超過保存期限，但仍可食用的食材所做。創辦人英國廚師亞當.史密斯(Adam Smith)爲了喚醒大衆對食品浪費問題的重視，將這個計劃取名爲“真正垃圾食品計劃(Real Junk Food Project)”。</p>
<p>
亞當接受法新社採訪時表示，自從這個項目創立以來，他們已經拯救了大約200噸的食物。而在英國利物浦市的第一家店開幕的兩年後，目前全球已有120家合作店鋪，在澳洲、韓國、法國、美國、奈及利亞等地都可以看到這樣的“垃圾咖啡館”。</p>
<p>
亞當表示，並不是所有過期食品都會被回收利用，他成立了研究小組，透過嗅聞味道、品嚐食物來檢查食材，並判斷是否能供應給客人。</p>
<p>
報道稱，由於英國法律禁止店家出售過期食物，因此垃圾咖啡館所提供的食物，採用“捐款”方式收費，讓消費者自己“看着給”。</p>
<p>
根據《鏡報》報導，另外一家垃圾開啡館的店員蓋比(Gabby Holmes)和娜塔莉( Natalie Crean)表示，人類的食物有35%最後是被丟掉的。</p>
