	雨林聯盟（RA）成立於1987年，總部設在美國紐約，是非贏 利性的國際非政府環境保護組織，也是國際森林認證體系FSC認可的最大的和最權威的專業FSC認證機構。其使命是通過改變土地利用模式、商業和消費者的行 爲來保護全球的生態系統和以此爲生的人類及野生動物。目前，雨林聯盟正與全球50多個國家的企業，政府和社區組織共同合作，幫助他們改變土地利用的方式、 制定長期的資源利用和維持生態平衡的計劃。</div>

	隨着全球市場對可持續需求的穩步發展，雨林聯盟設立可持續農業部、可持續 林業部和可持續旅遊部三個部門，堅持可持續原則和標準，保護野生動物和原始土地，維護工人及其社區的福利，幫助從大型跨國機構到小型基於社區組織機構的所 有企業人員和消費者，向市場提供負責任的生產品和服務。同時爲符合全面性標準的農場及林業企業頒發證書。</div>

	可持續林業部下設TREES和 SmartWood兩個項目部。SmartWood是1989年爲促進負責任林業的有效實施成立的，是保證生物多樣性和當地社區的經濟支撐的工具。 SmartWood開展的認證是雨林聯盟工作的中心，其傳播森林及其林產品認證的理念，保證企業提供的木製品來自維持生物多樣性、支持當地社區發展的森 林。SmartWood是全球第一個獨立的森林認證機構，得到國際森林認證體系森林管理委員會（FSC）的認可，這也使雨林聯盟成爲全球認證的倡導者。每 年雨林聯盟都會對全球環保、森林及生物多樣性有傑出貢獻的政府、組織和企業頒發綠色地球獎。如：爲一直致力於環保事業的美國安利公司頒發的&ldquo;綠色地球&rdquo;獎 等。</div>

	SmartWood的認證活動面向各種森林類型，包括分佈在熱帶、溫帶和寒溫帶的森林， 包括天然林、人工林，還包括大的商業林、小規模的集體林或家庭林。SmartWood的目標是通過獨立的審計、認證及認證林產品的推動，促進森林的可持續 經營，用經濟激勵推動企業實施可持續林業建設。</div>

	爲了提升森林認證的實施效力，雨林聯盟又成立了TREES項目組。TREEs項目部主要從事 有關森林可持續經營及認證的培訓、研究、推廣、教育和體系的活動。該項目組爲小型的林場主打開了認證林產品市場，提供開展認證的機會。因爲沒有認證木材市 場，林主就沒有爲進行森林可持續經營的動力。TREES也對林產品消費者開展教育培訓，讓他們認識到認證的環境效益和經濟效益。</div>

	在 中國 ，RA與WWF、CAF等機構合作，在FSC認證的原則下，對合作方和相關單位中的林業工作者及相關利益主體進行教育。RA將提供主要培訓專家，培訓工具 及材料來協助工作，快速提升當地的可持續森林經營的意識，推動中國FSC 的認證進程。在RA的幫助及IKEA的資助下，未來三年中，中國將有2000多位林業專家接受森林可持續經營的教育。</div>
