<span style="font-size:14px;"> 這間名爲“侍者（The Attendant）”的咖啡廳，前身是建造於1890年代維多利亞時期的公廁，經營者Pete Tomlinson 和Ben Russell因某天看到這間廢棄公廁門口掛了一塊“出租”的廣告招牌，於是靈機一動向政府租下這間廢棄50多年之久的公廁重新改造，並花了約10萬英磅（大約人民幣94萬）徹底將整個空間洗淨、翻新，使現在取代尿騷味的是滿室芬芳的咖啡香。</span><br />

<span style="font-size:14px;"> 改造後的廁所主題咖啡館，保留了上世紀維多利亞時期的歷史建築風味，除了刷新外觀的鐵鑄雕花拱門、洗淨內部的陶磁壁磚，90年代的男用小便池，也被改裝成了座位的小隔間，成爲獨特的空間雕塑裝飾。由於咖啡館正位於倫敦高級住宅區內，過去被視爲破壞社區景觀的亂源，如今從地下飄出的咖啡香，也洗淨了整個社區的空氣及環境，成了另類的“氣味都更”（“都更”是城市改造的意思）代表作。</span></div>

<span style="font-size:14px;"> 事實上，英國街頭有大批像這樣廢棄的維多利亞時期公廁，由於它們位在地下室又閒置長逹50多年之久，所以紛紛變成垃圾場、遊民居所，既臭又髒，變成破壞社區景觀的毒瘤；但由於極具歷史意義，整治及改建極爲困難，因此一直是倫敦都市更新的燙手山芋。所以這間創意廁所咖啡廳，等於既賺到了優越地段及便宜租金，也爲倫敦市府解決了一樁城市改造的難題。</span><br />
