當睏意來襲時，很多人喜歡飲上一杯咖啡，以驅走睡意。但總有那麼一些人，即使喝了幾大杯咖啡，該睡還是會睡過去，這是爲什麼呢?</p>

關於咖啡能提神的原因，科學家給出的解釋是咖啡裏的咖啡因(咖啡不同咖啡因含量差異很大)能刺激人體的神經系統，使之更加敏感，大阪生命科學研究所的研究員進一步實驗發現，在人們喝過咖啡或紅茶之後，咖啡因可以與腦細胞膜上的一種叫腺苷A2A的受體蛋白結合。他們以老鼠爲研究對象，發現飲用了更多咖啡的老鼠的睡眠時間明顯比不喝或少喝咖啡的老鼠的短。</p>
<p>
但英國的科學家可不這麼認爲，東倫敦大學的研究人員就對此展開了一個實驗，他們招募了八十八名每天要喝兩杯以上咖啡的志願者，並把這些志願者分爲兩組，一組告訴他們喝的是無咖啡因咖啡，實際上給他們的是普通咖啡，另一組則是告訴他們喝的是普通咖啡，提供的卻是無咖啡因咖啡。接着讓兩組人都進行注意力和反應力的測試，如果咖啡因真的能提高人的注意力和反應力，即讓人更精神，那麼應該是第二組比第一組成績好，但真實結果恰恰相反，是第一組的成績比第二組更好。科學家認爲，真正起作用的不是咖啡因，而是從咖啡裏獲得的心理暗示，即他們覺得咖啡因會讓他們更精神，無論這個咖啡因是否真實存在。</p>

對於咖啡因的研究出現了截然不同的兩個結論，對此，有的科學家提出了一個折中的解釋，即咖啡因確實可以減少人們對睡眠的需求，但並不意味着能提高人們工作的效率，即注意力和反應力，想想也對，畢竟“醒着”和“精神”是兩個不同的概念，可以同時存在。當然了，如果你很愛喝咖啡，也有一些好消息告訴你，有研究表明，咖啡裏富含的多種物質對免疫力有一定的好處，雖然達不到一般藥物那麼好，但至少也算是一個補充，另外，在英國一項超過一百人的研究中，科學家們發現咖啡對提高人的記憶力也有一定的幫助，美國加州大學歐文分校的邁克爾·亞撒博士說：“我們知道咖啡因能增強認知能力，但還未有研究表明咖啡因能提高記憶力。這次研究表明24小時內咖啡因能幫助減緩遺忘。研究中使用的相似圖片要求受試者有更好的記憶和辨別能力，這也突出了咖啡因對增強記憶的功效。”</p>

作爲歷史悠久的一種飲料，無數的研究都表明，只要不過量，咖啡還是很好的飲品，請放心飲用，如果喝的時候再暗示自己“我今天會很精神”，那麼它也能供你提神之用。</p>
<p>
總之，咖啡、茶、軟飲料和能量飲料基本都含有咖啡因，都能起到提神的作用。但不論是咖啡因的作用，還是精神的作用，亦或兩者兼而有之，其提神效果都是非常明顯的。但飲用時一定要注意場合，比如在睡眠前或運動比賽前都不適合飲用咖啡。</p>
